| Poker Face of the Month |
|
Our Poker Face of the month is Angela Fliegauf, who was born in Berlin, Germany. She is well known in the Woman Poker Player magazine community, and in PokerStars Women's Leagues where she plays under Aussteiger13. She is always a force to be reckoned with at the tables. Angela plays mostly casually, and loves the game. She especially enjoys the friendships she has made all over the world from playing poker.
Angela is married and has three lovely daughters. The oldest one is now married, Angela Fliegauf has been playing cards pretty much her whole life. When she was a child her father taught her card games, and she lost most of her pocket money playing with him. She enjoys playing all kinds of card and board games but her favorite is Poker. She has been playing more seriously for the past four years and she says she learns more every day through experience and reading up on the game. She studies poker and works hard at improving her game, something that everyone should do. Angela plays in the "Deutsche Poker Bundesliga" German poker league where they play for trophies or prizes that can sometimes be trips to Las Vegas, London, Barcelona, or Vienna, where a player is allowed to play in big tournaments with cash payouts. Germany has a few casinos where you can play cash games, but they do not allow for tournament play, and certainly no women's tournaments. For four years, Angela has been playing at PokerStars with a Team called "Nordisch by Natur". She plays at intelliPoker in three different leagues, which she enjoys. She has also moved on to playing in the Women's Leagues, and likes the fact there is no cursing at the table from the men She feels the games are much friendlier when you play with only females.
Angela's Husband is an ex-Pro Hockey player, who is now the General Manager of a Pro-Hockey team. This means the family has had to move around for his work. Currently, they live in Wolfsburg, where the VW - Volkswagen Company is located. Once a year, Angela's husband travels to North America on a talent scout, and for the past three years, Angela has been able to go with him and have a chance to play in some poker tournaments. In 2009, Angela went to North America for the first time."OMG I love New York." says Angela of her trip, " But, Vegas is another world. I didn’t know much about Poker tournaments then, but I changed 200 Dollars for chips, and started my first Casino Cash game." she continued. "I played $1/2 for about five hours when I made enough to buy a second pair of Manola Blahnik's!" (For those who aren't aware of what Blahnik's are, I am not sure where you have been, but Google the designer's name and see the shoes you are going to want to covet if you should be lucky enough to own a pair.)
" I will never forget this." says Angela. "I think I had 15 rounds with no hand, then I was dealt pocket Aces. The blinds were 400/800 - SB,BB, call, fold, fold, I call, fold, fold, someone raised, and everyone else at the table folded. Of course, I made the call. The flop came with A-K-K and i was thinking Weeeeeeeee, I have the nuts! I checked and she raised, I re-raised, and she put me all in. Of course, I called. Show down came and I showed my full house and then she showed me the 4-of-a-kind Kings she had caught on the flop. I was out." Angela carries on improving her play in poker and doesn't give up. That is what makes her a great poker player who I am sure we will be seeing more of, she sends everyone her best wishes from Germany.
Best of luck Angela, in the 2012 WSOP, and in the Women's Sunday. See you at the table.
