Making Smart Choices

Want to make some better choices at the grocery store? Cooking Light has a new book, "What to Eat: A Real-World Guide to Making Smart Choices," that gives healthy eating guidelines for the store. Here is a sampling:

— Base meals on items from the grocery store perimeter. The perimeter is where you find most healthy foods: fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, meats, poultry and dairy products. Then shop the aisles containing 100 percent whole grain breads and pastas and whole grains such as oatmeal, barley and quinoa.

Can Women Intimidate Each Other On The Felt?2010-09-01T19:10:11Z2010-09-01T19:10:11Zhttp://www.womanpokerplayer.com/poker-strategy/pokerskillsgeneral/553-can-women-intimidate-each-other-on-the-felt.htmlDanielle Adams Benhamwomanpokerplayer@gmail.com

I find the subject often rises about men intimidating women in poker; especially beginners. Due to this intimidation and wanting more women to take to the felt in a friendly atmosphere, we have a lot of tournaments for women exclusively in mind. Some suggest that by offering these tournaments or women’s only events the fairer sex will feel more comfortable to play.

If there wasn’t any rake, the money won by players at the table would always equal the money other players lost. No mystery there. Because of that, poker seems like a place where you wouldn’t expect to find many win-win situations.

Baltimore: Bargain Alternative to Washington, D.C.

Our first choice for a getaway was Washington, D.C., but that was before we checked out the room rates. When we couldn't find anything we could afford close enough to the places we wanted to visit, we had a brainstorm: We'd use budget-friendly Baltimore as a base and riding the MARC (Maryland Transit Administration) train into Washington. We could get there and back weekdays for $14 round-trip.

Dear Margo: Look for a Guy Who Golfs or Read Books2010-08-27T15:09:58Z2010-08-27T15:09:58Zhttp://www.womanpokerplayer.com/wellness/dearmargo/545-dear-margo-look-for-a-guy-who-golfs-or-read-books.htmlMargo Howardwomanpokerplayer@gmail.com

Look for a Guy Who Golfs or Reads Books

Dear Margo: This may be typical, but it's driving me crazy. My boyfriend and I have been together for 10 years. During the past two or three, he started playing a computer game called World of Warcraft. He "met" a girl on this game, and they started gaming together, as well as chatting and e-mailing each other. I suspect they also traded cell phone numbers. Apparently, she started playing with someone else, and when my boyfriend got jealous, she ceased all communication with him. I knew about her all along, but when he told me about this "jealousy" issue, I told him it was me or the game. He quit playing.
