Only Obrestad!
Written by Danielle Adams Benham

Annette Obrestad has had a run in the Australian Poker scene like never before witnessed.

The 2010 Aussie Millions Poker Championship has been a record breaking Aussie Millions in more ways than one. These two facts go hand in hand with Annette being the key component to both of them.

Annette has broken the drought for ladies in Australian poker being the first and only woman crowned an Aussie Millions Poker Champion. Annette took down the Championship of the $1,100 Pot Limit Omaha tournament.

Obrestad began final table play of the $1,100 Pot Limit Omaha tournament third in chips and she would continue to dominate until she claimed the $40,000 AUD first place prize. Annette didn’t leave her good run and skills behind at the Omaha tables.

She currently finds herself sitting in 2nd place in chips with only 18 players remaining in the main event of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship. She will kick off her play and race to the final table with 1,711,000 chips at 12:30 p.m. AEST. Annette was more than a chirpy finisher at almost 2 a.m. tweeting “Down to 18, think I'm in 2nd place with 1,7 mill! Redraw again tomorrow. We start at 12:30pm local time. Soooo excited. Gogogogo”, closely followed by “Oh how to sleep now...”. “really really wanna take this down!”.  (editor's note: stay tuned with Annette's tweets here.)

Best of luck to Annette - we are hoping to following this article with an update of her second crowning  - Aussie style!eom

Sadly Annette busted out of the main event in 7th place. It is believed to date she has made the longest run in the Aussie Millions main event of any other woman to date.
