I am sure there are some poker moms out there that play online poker just for fun and to have some time to ourselves for a little break. When it comes to playing online and using real money things have changed for many of us lately. The fun goes out the window when we are risking dollars that could go to cover some of our family needs. When it comes to the current state in the industry, there are risks with playing online.  Now that some of the bigger sites don't accept players for real money from the U.S. and other areas, playing online for fun is a way some of us are keeping up our skills.

We have also heard of people losing their money to some of the newer online rooms closing down. This peturbs us from even thinking of taking the risk of depositing for purely leisure means.Thankfully when it comes to our online fears there are ways around them. There are many free sites where we can enjoy a game, and there are also subscription sites where we can pay a once a month fee. We know that playing on these sites are minimal risk to us to enjoy playing for fun or social reasons.

For those that are serious about winning dollars, playing on free poker sites and subscription sites isn't quite what you are looking for.  People tend to play much looser and make bad calls when there isn't risk. In saying that there are at times some of the free sites do offer sponsored prizes which can make playing in those tournaments more attractive. Still, we are talking about enjoyment here though, not supporting yourself or winning thousands of dollars.

Here at Woman Poker Player Magazine you have access to free poker software which is legal everywhere and from time to time tournaments are organised with some prizes up for grabs.

There are many poker applications on facebook also that you can have fun playing. I have two  favorites I tend to stick to. The first would be Pokeriety where I have my own team “Team Down Under Danielle”. On pokeriety the plan is to conquer not only your opponents but the other teams around the world. If its kick butt fun you are looking for in a game; with all the other erks and perks of the facebook applications, I suggest heading straight to my other favorite facebook poker application which is  Gossip Girl Poker! Gossip girl poker is a fantastic place to play, chat, relax, socialise and have some fun playing poker with other women!  Yes this facebook application is the first one made for women only poker. The site has just been released and there are plans to make it only available to Female Facebook Profiles as soon as more female players join.  To help with this transition due to be announced early Fall, please join gossip girl poker search for gossip girl poker in your facebook search bar at the top and click to play.

When it comes to subscription sites, there are many popping up since the dooming Black Friday of online poker. These subscription sites are the online poker sites where you pay a monthly fee to participate in all of the tournaments available. Usually the prizes are points that you accumulate to play in bigger and bigger tournaments, there are tournaments where you can win WPT packages, WSOP packages and all kinds of other prizes small and big. The issue I have found playing on these sites is you must put in a ton of work to get anywhere. Do not think its pay your fee and have an easy ride, it doesnt work like that. You need to commit to playing a lot and to win often.

Getting back to the discussion of facebook; I have just made my status “I need to play some poker I think!” which is exactly what I am going to do!
