Online poker is the vehicle most often used for women to get into poker. It offers anonymity but camaraderie if desired, and lower stakes than are offered in many live venues but higher ones when players are ready. The reasons for online poker's popularity are many. But often, players get the urge to test out their skills in a live setting. Enter PokerStars Women Live. The live tournament is part of the EPT London festivities, and the PS Women Live event will be held on October 2 at the Victoria Casino. Players are welcome to buy in on site, but they can also win their seats online. There are weekly £1,500 prize packages awarded to players - one guaranteed each Sunday from a £108.50 satellite - that includes the tournament buy-in, hotel and expenses. But there are daily freerolls allowing players to qualify for the Sunday satellite at no cost! Other satellites offer entries to that Sunday tournament for as little as £5.50. PS Women Live will include amateurs and pros, and it is the perfect chance to translate those online skills to a live tournament.
Speaking of online, let's get to today's Women's Sunday! Total players: 227 Among the players in the field were two Team PokerStars Pros, both carrying $50 bounties. Celina Lin was the first to exit after about an hour of play, and Liv Boeree was still going strong. Into the second hour, Boeree was firmly in the top ten on the leaderboard, and by the start of the third hour, she was in first place with only five tables remaining. Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree of the UK won the Women's Sunday tournament and the $2,321.18 in prize money, not to mention her own $50 bounty.
