For several months, the guarantee for the weekly Women's Sunday tournament was set at $7K, yet oftentimes the prize pool eclipsed $10K. So what better way to thank the players and celebrate the female players on PokerStars than to offer a Special Edition of the Women's Sunday? The October 16 tournament offered a $15K guarantee, along with $100 Pro bounties and $11 satellite tickets to every single player for a PS Women PCA satellite. We hoped for a good turnout, but we had no idea how phenomenal it would be. PokerStars' female players came out in strong force, and the numbers climbed and climbed during the late registration period. The prize pool soared above the $20K mark, and the PokerStars Women crew beamed with pride at the final numbers when registration closed: Total players: 463 What an amazing turnout! Going forward, starting with next week's Women's Sunday, the regular guarantee will be set at $10,000. Keep it up with these fields, however, and we'll have to raise it even more! One of the bonuses today was the aforementioned $100 bounties on the PokerStars pros, and there were four said pros in the field. Team PokerStars Pro Fatima Moreira de Melo of Holland was the first to exit in the first hour of play, followed by Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome of Canada a short time later. Team Pro Celina Lin of Macao was also an early casualty of the tournament.
Germany's luzzzy, who won a Women's Sunday title in March, grabbed a second title in the Special Edition today. And for winning the largest Women's Sunday to date, she took home $4,375.51 for the victory. Congrats! Women's Sunday Special Edition Results for 10/16/11: 1st place: luzzzy ($4,375.51) See the rest of this article here. |
