May 13, 1990
April 28, 1991 Professional player Susie Isaacs placed 15th in the event marking her first cash of record. Susie has gone on to become a writer, speaker and proponent of women’s events.
May 1, 1992 The WSOP upped the buy-in for the ladies event to $1000. April 25, 1993 The event winner Phyllis Kessler was 11th on the Women's Top Money Winners list with a total of $84,240. Susie Isaacs cashed in her second consecutive Ladies Event Professional player and popular writer Cathy Hulbert cashed in her first event, placing 4th. Marsha Waggoner cashed in her 6th recorded poker tournament. She has since gone on to win more than $500,000. She is a member of the Seniors WCOP/Poker Players Hall of Fame. April 28, 1994 Winner Barbara Enright became the first woman to win two WSOP Ladies Titles and to date is the only woman inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. May 17, 1995 Professional payer Cyndy Violette marked her second recorded cash in her tournament career. May 13, 1996 Event winner, Susie Isaacs marked yet another cash. Overall she cashed in 8 WSOP Ladies Events, breaking the record for the most WSOP Ladies events (1991, 1993,1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2007)
Susie Isaacs became the first woman to win consecutive WSOP Ladies Events (1996 and 1997) May 10, 1998 Professional player Kathy Liebert cashed in 12th place for $1500. Her tournament winnings to date total over $5,000,000. She has become one of the most feared and respected players in poker today. Nani Dollison finished 14th for $1,000 in her first recorded cash. She went on to win 3 WSOP bracelets.
May 9, 1999 7 out of the 8 money finishers cashed in multiple WSOP Ladies Events.
May 14, 2000 The WSOP switched the format of the ladies event to a mix of Limit Hold’em and 7-card stud. 15th place Mimi Tran cashed for $1,330 early in her tournament career. The high stakes player has cashed for over $1,000,000 including 3rd place at the 2006 WPT Championship. May 13, 2001 May 12, 2002 Maureen Feduniak went out in 17th place . . . one before the money. In the final hand of the game 2nd place Marie Sohn mucked her all-in hand when a 9 came on the river to give Catherine Brown, a straight and the bracelet.
May 11, 2003 Respected professional player, JJ Liu, came in second in her first recorded cash in a ladies only event. The Full Tilt Pro, Karina Jett, cashed in 4th place. Karina has cashed in a total of 6 WSOP events including 2 WSOP Ladies Events.
May 9, 2004 The WSOP changed the format over to limit hold’em only. The number of entrants almost doubled from the previous year. The winner, Hung Doan, cashed for $58,530; her largest cash to date. Day two of the event lasted about 7 hours.
June 26, 2005 The event changed to No Limit Hold’em. Winner, Jennifer Tilly, became the first actor/actress to win a championship poker event, and this alone heightened the profile of women in poker. The number of entrants almost tripled from the previous year. Day one of the event lasted nearly 15 hours. In the last two hands of the game Jennifer Tilly won the hands with A-7. Popular player and philanthropist, Beth Shak, took 8th place for her fist recorded tournament cash. Professional player, Vanessa Rousso, went out of the event in 45th place. This was Vanessa’s 3rd cash of her poker career.
June 10, 2006 The winner, Mary Jones, had only been playing live poker for about 2 years. Kelli Griggs cashed in her first recorded event, finishing in 59th place. She has since gone on to do hand analysis for the WSOP Academy and is a freelance writer. In the final hand of the event Mary Jones called the second place finisher, Shawnee Barton’s, A-4 with Q-6. A six hit on the river.
June 10, 2007 Winner, Sally Anne Boyer, attended the WSOP Poker Academy just days before the event began. 5th place finisher, Katja Thater, cashed in a total of 3 WSOP events that year including a bracelet in the Razz Seven Card event. Mindy Trinidad celebrated her first recorded tournament cash in 7th place to begin her too short career. After her death in 2008 a memorial tournament was set up in her honor. Vanessa Selbst cashed in 8th place for $20,480. She went on to place 4th in the Heads Up - No Limit Hold'em the same year. Vanessa has gone on to a career that makes her one of the most feared players at the tables. The popular chess player and author, Jennifer Shahade, finished in 17th. She has gone on to become active in the poker community especially where it concerns women in poker. Michele Lewis made her last recorded cash. She has become one of the most respected women poker writers. She has written for Bluff Magazine, Pokerati.com, WickedChopsPoker.com, Women's Poker Night and Woman Poker Player Magazine Susie Isaacs marks her 8th cash in the WSOP Ladies Event. One of the entrants was Margie Heintz., Margie made poker history. Heintz was the first female dealer in World Series of Poker history.
June 8, 2008 Winner, Svetlana Gromenkova was a professional bridge player in her native country, Russia. Runner up, Ahn Le placed second in two WSOP Ladies Events. (2005 and 2008) Van Nguyen AKA "mrs master” the wife of Men “The Master” Nguyen added a 14th place cash in this event to her long list of cashes. Professional player, Linda Johnson, came out in 23rd. Evelyn Ng added a 48th place cash to her tournament winnings totaling over $300,000. 62nd place was Nancy Todd Tyner was the winner of the World Poker Tour Ladies Championship during Season VI. Lauren Failla finished the event in 63rd place. Lauren is the founder of High Heels Poker Tour. Actress/TV star Jackie Collins announced 'shuffle up and deal,' Notable finishes included former gold bracelet winner Linda Johnson, (23rd) Kathy Liebert (47th) And Olga Varkonyi, wife of 2002 WSOP champion Robert Varkonyi (37th). On day 1, a player celebrated her winning hand in excess and received an “excessive celebration” penalty.
June 7, 2009 Winner, Lisa Hamilton, is primarily a cash game player. This event marked her first time playing in a major poker event. This was the quickest final table of the 2009 WSOP. It clocked in as less than three hours. In the final hand of the tournament came when Lisa won with a pair of 8’s with a Q kicker. Second place Lori Bender ended with a pair of 8’s, J kicker. Joanne "JJ" Liu Karina Jett placed and Susie Isaacs cashed in 13th, 21st and 84th respectively. Poker Stars Pro, Maria Mayrinck AKA "Maridu", cashed in the event in 49th place. Debbie Burkhead placed in 55th place. Just one of her 37 cashes to date. Ann-Margaret Johnston, accountant to many players cashed in 67th. Svetlana Gromenkova, last years winner placed in 57th for $2,865 The 10th place finisher Donna Houle started the Pink Ladies Poker Tour in 2010.
June 11, 2010 Winner: Vanessa Hellebuyk Entrants: 1054 For the first time, the WSOP ladies event has their own custom made bracelet designed by renown artisan, Steve Soffa.
