Women in Poker Hall of Fame Nominations Open

The Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHoF) board announced open nominations this morning for the 2011 inductions. The WiPHoF dinner and ceremony is taking place September 2nd, 2011 at 6 pm at the Golden Nugget Casino Grand Ballroom in Las Vegas.

It is the “kick off” event for the US Ladies Poker Championship weekend of events. Mistress of Ceremonies is Jan Fisher with special guest speaker, Jeffrey Pollack, Chairman of Federated Sports + Gaming.

“With so many deserving women in the poker world, it is always a pleasure to honor those women who have achieved great strides either in poker performance or in contribution to the industry.” Said WiPHoF Board Member Karina Jett.

Eligible candidates for Induction must meet the following requirements:

  1. A candidate must have been active as a player or industry leader for a minimum of 15 years prior to election. (January 1996 to present.)

  2. Player/industry leader must have contributed to the world of poker in some significant way. This person can qualify by either winning major poker tournaments, or by making significant contributions to the industry of poker.

  3. Player/industry leader must be a proponent of women's poker. Even if she does not play in women's events, she must support them.

This nomination process is open from now until June 30th, 2011. We will compile the results and once again ask the public to assist in voting beginning July 3rd until July 10th at which time the results will remain secret until July 20th, 2011.
