As part of World Poker Tour®’s ongoing efforts to offer player-friendly structures and innovative concepts, WPT® is pleased to announce that WPT Malta will now be a re-entry event. WPT Malta joins the upcoming WPT Borgata Poker Open (Sept 18 – 23) and last month’s WPT Legends of Poker, which saw an astounding 116 players re-enter on Day 1B, as the third re-entry tournament in this young WPT Season X. The €3,000 + €300 WPT Malta tournament will give players that get knocked out on Day 1A the chance to buy in again on Day 1B, increasing the prize pool and giving those players that didn’t survive the first day another shot. “The re-entry format is great for pros that have to travel long distances. They could be out in one hour. This gives them two chances to enter the tournament, instead of just one,” said WPT’s Hall of Fame announcer Mike Sexton. “It makes for a much larger prize pool, something all players like.” With big name pros such as Tony G, Phil Hellmuth, Kara Scott, Dominik Nitsche, Marvin Rettenmaier, John Eames, Roberto Romanello, Jake Cody and Lukas Berglund joining some of the top young online players from across Europe, WPT Malta will be a knock down, drag-out battle with the winner now taking home more money. Hosted at The Casino at Portomaso, WPT Malta runs from Sept. 20 – 24. Pre-registration has been extended to Sept. 14 to meet player demand. Players can pre-register at www.worldpokertour.com.
