While there is almost always a series poker tournament going on in the Greater Los Angeles area, one of the "biggies" begins May 15, 2010. To kick things off, the 4-day opening event of the California State Poker Championship ("CSPC") has a Half Million Dollar Guarantee! Last year, the same event (and the first of its kind) attracted nearly 2000 players, including such notable players as Tiffany "Hot Chips" Michelle, Maria Ho aka the Femme on Felt, Lacey "the Poker Barbie" Jones, and Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler -- just to name a few. The CSPC is boasting a wide variety of events, including Limit and No-Limit Hold'em, Omaha (Pot Limit and Hi/Lo), 7-Card Stud, 8-Game Mixed, H.O.R.S.E. , 6-Handed and a Heads-Up challenge, which all lead up to the $3,085 buy-in No-Limit Texas Hold'Em Championship on May 21, 2009. As any poker tournament player will tell you, the CSPC draws some of the best players along the West Coast, and winning a title at the CSPC is something to be proud of. This series is giving away over a million dollars in combined guarantees, with the majority of the events costing under $400.00. The three highroller events are May 17th $1,065 8-Game Mixed tournament, the May 19th $1,575 NLH Knockout Bounty event ($500 for each player eliminated) and the Championship.
The CSPC is being held at Commerce Casino located at 6131 Telegraph Road, Commerce, California. Single Table Satellites ($40-$540) are on-going everyday from 11:00 a.m. until midnight, with $100 Super Satellites beginning at 7:00 pm daily, and $335 Mega Satellites starting on May 15 at 7:00 p.m. The CSPC is a terrific warm-up event for the upcoming World Series of Poker and an excellent opportunity to test your skills against some of the best poker players in the world. |
