WPT Barcelona Attracts a Record 326 Players

With play well into Day 1B of the World Poker Tour Spanish Championship, presented by PartyPoker, Tournament Director Thomas Kremser has confirmed there are a record 326 players and a total prize pool of over €1 million euros (€1,043,200) paying 36 places for the €3,200 + €300 buy-in event.  First prize is €315,000 + a $25,500 entry into the 2011 WPT World Championship. Day 1B saw a total of 192 players join the tournament after a field of 134 players took to the felt on Day 1A.

The Day 1B field includes Spanish champ May Maceiras, European Player of the Year Dragan Galic, WPT Bucharest winner Guillaume Darcourt, Aussie Millions winner Tyron Krost, Sam Trickett, Bengt Sonnert, Casey Kastle, Javier Martinez, Tomeu Gomila, Jordi Martinez, Enrique Custodio, Quinn Sivage, Christophe Benzimra, Eric Haick and WPT Paris highroller finalist Roger Hairabedian. Amongst those at the tables on Day 1A were Mihai Manole, Sorel Mizzi, Leo Margets, Antoine Saout, Irish Open champion James Mitchell, Manuel Cuberos, Juan Manuel Pastor, Frank Blumlein, Per Linde and Cayetano Garcia.

When the smoke clears at the May 23rd final table, the winner will join the ranks of Markus Lehmann of Austria, Denmark’s Casper Hansen, and reigning WPT Spanish champion, American Mark Randal Flowers.  The new champion will take home a WPT title and a $25,500 entry into the 2011 WPT World Championship.
