Sunday March 14 will see the return of the hugely popular no-limit hold’em team event with teams of four will competing in the €400 + €40 tournament with the €40 registration fee donated to charity. Sixty percent of the prize pool will be paid out to the first three teams while 40 percent will be paid out to individuals at the final table. Early registration recommended as this event sold out last year and is capped at 30 teams with 20 already registered. Celebrity poker players registered for the festival so far include Irish rugby international Reggie Corrigan, former boxing champions Jim Rock and Michael Carruth, and snooker legend Ken Doherty while well-known poker players supporting the event include Padraig Parkinson, Noel Furlong, Fintan Gavin, Scott Gray, Paul Marrow, Liam Flood, and Marty Smyth. Padraig Parkinson, ambassador for Poker for the Homeless, said, “We’re delighted to return to with Poker for the Homeless and it’s a credit to poker players, Paul at the Jackpot Club, and Paddy Power Poker that they continue to put their hands in their pockets for those less well off in these trying times. “We hope we can beat last year’s total of €10,000 and Brother Kevin at the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin, who does such sterling frontline work feeding the hungry and homeless will be able to buy a lot of food for those who need it most.”
